• Academic Achievement – The success you gain in your experiences as a student/learner.Academic

• Advisor –They are present to help you develop personal educational plans, and support you as you accomplish your academic goals. At SPCC academic advisors are faculty.

• Academic Support Center – A place on both campuses where you can receive support for your ePortfol.  Learn more here ----> Academic Support Center.

• Artifact – An academic assignment in digital form that shows evidence of your learning. You will include these in your ePortfolio to showcase your best work.

• Copyright – The exclusive and legal right to make copies of someone else’s work, including but not limited to literary, printed, musical, audio, video, and digital.

• Core Skill – Skills you should have when you graduate from SPCC. “Core” simply means they are essential for you to have, regardless of your major or intended career. SPCC has six Core Skills. Learn more here ----> General Ed Core Skills.

• Curriculum Program – This is your Program of Study, also referred to as your “major.”

• ePortfolio – A web-based collection that shows your academic experiences and best college work along with reflections that provide personal and academic context for the work.

• General Education – Courses that are placed in your program to expose you to a variety of subjects or experiences that serve as a foundation. It may be referred to as “Gen Ed”.

• Goals – This refers to the personal, professional and academic expectations you set for yourself. You will set long-term, short-term, general education, and program-related goals.

• Graduation Requirement – Courses or/and steps that must be completed before earning your degree. The ePortfolio is required to graduatewith an AA, AS, or AFA degree.

• Long-Term Goal – An expectation you set for yourself to be accomplished beyond the immediate future.

• Multimedia – The use of more than one form of communication at a time. This refers to the use videos, graphics, text, and other types of media within your project.

• Original Artwork – An artifact created by you, that does not include any element protected by copyright law, unless properly cited.

• Original Video – This is a video you create yourself with your own content, with no content that is protected by copyright law, unless properly cited.

• Paper – This refers to a written assignment.

• Personal Introduction – This is the ePortfolio page where you provide insights about you as an individual, as a student, and as a future professional.

• Platform – The computer tool that you will use to build your ePortfolio. The recommended platform is Wix. Learn more here ---> www.wix.com.

• PowerPoint – A Microsoft program that allows you to create a slideshow.

• Program of Study – The group of courses that makes up your degree, diploma, or certificate. It is sometimes referred to as your “major.”

• Program Outcome – The established set of knowledge, behaviors, and attitudes that each student should achieve by completion of their program of study.

• Reflection – This is when you look back at an accomplishment (project, assignment, learning experience) and you think critically about what you learned, and thoughtfully write about it. Learn more here ---> Reflectve Writing.

• Resume – A document that shows your personal, professional and academic accomplishments and experiences.  Learn more here --->  Resume Writing.

• Rubric – A tool used for evaluation that shows the expectations of an assignment. You can use the rubric to be sure you have all the elements required.

• Self-Criticism – This is where you look at your own work to see where it needs improvement.

• Service Learning – You may have this as a requirement in your courses. It is when you serve or volunteer in the community or workforce as it relates to your program of study.

• Short-Term Goal – An expectation you set for yourself to be accomplished in the immediate future.

• Showcase – This refers to the collection of your best academic work. The ePortfolio is a “showcase” of what you have accomplished!

• Taskstream – A web-based program used by SPCC to document student learning. You will submit items in Taskstream for assessment. Taskstream may not be used to create the ePortfolio; However, you might use the same artifacts in Taskstream and in your ePortfolio.

• Web-based – Any digital resource that is available to you on the World Wide Web.

• Wix – The web-based recommended platform you should use for the ePortfolio. This is the only platform supported by SPCC.

• Work-Based Learning – This is when you earn credit for workforce experience, formerly called  “Co-op” learning.
